Christie Medical Holdings to display VeinViewer technology at 2018 National Teaching Institute and Critical Care Exposition

Publication Date: 5/18/2018

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - (May 18, 2018) - Christie® Medical Holdings will be displaying its industry leading lineup of VeinViewer near-infrared, vein finder technology at the 2018 National Teaching Institute and Critical Care Exposition, May 22-24 at the Boston Convention Center.

Establishing peripheral IV access can be challenging, especially in patients with small or hard-to-find veins. Hospitalization and the associated frequent IV injections and cannula insertions contribute to making venous access increasingly difficult. While nurses are skilled at venipuncture, vein finder technology - including VeinViewer - can reduce the stress and anxiety associated with IV insertion.

VeinViewer reduces the time needed for IV insertion, improves first stick success rates by up to 100 percent when starting an IV catheter and can reduce the use of ‘rescue’ central lines or PICCs. VeinViewer aids in determining the point of insertion in venipuncture procedures by locating and avoiding valves and venous bifurcations. VeinViewer uses near-infrared light to create a real-time digital image of a patient’s veins on their skin.

“VeinViewer is the only device of its kind to have a positive impact on a patient’s experience due to improved peripheral IV insertion,” said George Pinho, president, Christie Medical Holdings. “With ninety percent of hospital patients requiring venipuncture for a blood draw or IV insertion, we’re excited to demonstrate how VeinViewer can improve the quality of care for patients, especially those with difficult venous access.”

During the conference, Christie Medical Holdings is offering programs for nurses and clinicians to learn about vascular access challenges and receive Continuing Education Recognition Points (CERPs) at three ExpoEd Sessions including: First Stick Success: Technology Makes a Significant Impact; Challenging IV Sticks? Technology to the Rescue; Difficult Venous Access (DVA) ≠ Placing a Central Line.

Christie Medical Holdings will display VeinViewer and hold ExpoEd sessions at NTI 2018 in booth 3041 during May 22-24. B.Braun Medical, Inc. is a distributor of VeinViewer.
